Government Grants Can Support Businesses

The Australian government provides a number of different grants to support the growth of businesses.  That is what Mr Stuart Smith, Director of Vebiz, said when addressing members of the Australian Arab Business Council (AABC) at their April dinner.  He identified a range of grants available to businesses and how they can be accessed.

Mr Smith advised that the grants include a Research and Development grant that provides a refundable tax rebate of up to 43.5% to eligible businesses that invest in the development of new ideas for business growth and innovation.

He also advised of the Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) which supports the growth of export opportunities by any business with up to $150,000 or 50% reimbursement of export market spending.

Mr Smith also spoke of other grant programs like the Entrepreneurs’ Infrastructure Program that funds eligible businesses to engage a consultant to provide a comprehensive business diagnostic.  He also introduced the Accelerating Commercialisation program that funds business growth through unique and innovative commercial ideas.

The comprehensive presentation was the main topic of conversation at the April Dinner which also heard from the NSW Business Chamber on the World Chambers of Congress.  AABC President, Mr Roy Skaf, acknowledged the speakers and spoke about the range of activities that the AABC Board is currently undertaking to advance the work of the organisation.

The meeting was chaired by AABC Board Member, Mr Kerim El Gabaili and attended by a full house of members at the Summerland Restaurant in Strathfield.
